$15.00 USD Dear Nancy, All I ever wanted since I was a little girl was to meet a great guy, get married, be a wife and mother, and have a perfect marriage. but my marriage is terrible. We fight all the time. I don't know what to do. We just can't seem to show each other love. Most of the time, we can't stand each other... Do I have unrealistic ideas about marriage and happiness? The letter above is only one of thousands that have been written to author and family-life educator Nancy Van Pelt over the past 25 years. The letters are real-life dramas that reflect some of the tensions and traumas of living in today's topsy-turvy world. They come from average folks and well-known personalities - people speaking in their own voices about loveless marriages, sexual incompatibility, affairs, emotional and verbal abuse, pornography, dating unbelievers, desperation over a runaway child, divorce, loneliness, debt, and more. With assistance from coauthor Madlyn Hamblin, Nancy has gathered some of these many letters together to form this book. In each chapter you will find a collection of intimate stories about family relationships - some sad, others hilarious, but all intensely interesting. through the practical suggestions and encouragement found in Dear Nancy..., you can receive answers and insights into your most intimate questions, as well as receive inspiration to love more and continue to reach out to those you love. Some chapters you'll enjoy
Dear Nancy is the Best! God gave you some
tremendous insights much needed in our sick society. My wife has just
left me. Why? Because I am guilt of everything from lying, to stealing
and unfaithfulness. I was sick on the inside and yet longed for God to
change me. This hurt my wife so much. I felt trapped, and wanted God
to fix me, so I obtained counseling and sought answers to what was
driving me to sin.
This crisis has been a blessing in
disguise. It was what I needed to get desperate enough to change. My
wife isn't home yet, but I am going to become such a good husband and so
attractive that she'll be eager to come home. I'll never give up.
My wife and I can become a tremendous
witness to the power of "attending to wisdom" and seeking and asking and
knocking. We we get our act together we will be able to help other
couples.
Thanks for your faithful heart and
for using your talents to write clearly to help people interpret His
ways for living! John in Seattle
I am writing to let you know how much I
enjoyed your book DEAR NANCY. I was pleased to find a book so practical
as well as spiritually on track. I also agreed with the psychological
principals you emphasized. As a marriage and family therapist I was
encouraged to see a book combining spiritual and psychological truths so
beautifully. Nancy from Idaho
I am one of your "fans." I have most of your
CDs, several of your books and have attended seminars twice. My husband
convinced me years ago that I had a real problem with sex. While counseling
with you, you identified several problems in our marriage and recommended
that I get professional help. All I knew was that our relationship was not
normal. After meeting with you, I took steps to learn more about myself.
Since I spoke with you, my husband has served a
short jail sentence and is on probation for a prolonged incestuous
relationship with our daughter. This has been going on for ten years and I
knew nothing about it. We are separated now and divorce is in process.
The church has had a field day with this and has
spread many stories. We have had almost no contact with our church or
pastor as no one knows what to say or do. The prevailing opinion is that
this problem of incest or sexual abuse does not exist within the church.
Why am I telling you all this? You are an
author. Write about it! Help people see this is not peculiar to "the
world." It exists within the church. Someone must make an effort to bring
this subject to the attention of the church.
